Puesta Del Sol (eng: Sunset) is the new EP from The Data Waves in collaboration with Miyka'el and yourbeautifulruin. The record came together during the endless evenings of quarantine, thinking about the people we love, our past relationships, and the emotional distance we all were feeling. Each of the four tracks that occupy this project tiptoe around these themes, telling tales equal parts sunshine and sadness. As we watch the Summer of 2021 come to an end, we hope that we can give you one last view of the setting sun.

'Sight' is a song about seeing the love of your life and questioning if they are really the one for you, but when you spend time together in their good company, you begin to see clearly for the first time. Miyka'el's vocals cast over the song like sun rays over buttery guitar leads from Sammy Gessesse, propelling the track onward through the soft soundscape laid down by the rest of the band.

'Electric Sheets' is, for lack of a more eloquent term, cute as hell. It's about being in the moment, basking in the energy of your significant other, and feeling as though you're stuck in a dream when you're around them. The song is bright and warm, like driving home in the evening sun with your love. This tune features the most propulsive groove on the record, stemming from the interactions between Aditya Kashyap and Shravan Raghuram on the bass and drums respectively.

'Thru' is about those difficult times in relationships where breaks in communication and physical contact can lead to emotional separation and distance. It comes from a place of understanding that there are no good times without bad ones, and no happiness without sadness. The song features somber vocals from Miyka'el over a smooth, spacey groove from the rest of the group.

'Treasure' is the light at the end of the tunnel. It's a song about always moving forward, experiencing everything around you, and confronting all of the positive and negative emotions that come your way. The track features vocals from Sammy Gessesse and Miyka'el, in addition to beautiful textures on the keyboards and synths from yourbeautifulruin. And after the pulsing dub groove kicks in, stick around for a beautiful tenor saxophone solo and soaring flute harmonies from Kevin King.
